**Diversity is reflective of a community of people of differing genders, racial-ethnic backgrounds, languages, religious beliefs, sexual orientations, abilities and disabilities, national and geographical origins, socio-economic class, veterans’ status, and political views.

**Inclusive excellence reframes the traditional approach to diversity from ‘numerical composition’ into a multidimensional set of institutional processes in which diversity is a foundational aspect of the university’s mission toward better learning, inquiry, and problem solving. It is reflected in the campus climate, curriculum, intellectual discourse, scholarly products, and recruitment and retention efforts.
