2006–2010 PROGRESS REPORT
Partner Accommodations
- Faculty Council, jointly with counterparts at UMKC and UMSL, passed a resolution
calling for same-sex partners of UM employees to be given access to all of the same rights, privileges, and benefits to which opposite-sex spouses currently are entitled. Of the 63 schools in the AAU, MU is one of only eight that do not have domestic partner coverage for health insurance. - Faculty Council is working with offices across campus to ensure that same-sex partners receive the “soft benefits” that spouses get at MU (e.g., discounts at the golf course and library privileges).
- Faculty Council together with the MU Equity Office conducted a survey to collect information about lost hiring opportunities and resignations due to lack of same-sex partner benefits.
