Ty ChristianPresentation of Martin Luther King National Memorial Replica to the University of Missouri

In October 2011, President Barack Obama dedicated the Martin Luther King, Jr.National Memorial Foundation in Washington, D.C.external link Now, a University of Missouri alumnus who played a key role in organizing the memorial will present MU with a smaller replica of the sculpture.

Ty Christian, a 1977 graduate of MU, served as chief marketing strategist on the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Project Foundation. Under Christian’s marketing leadership, the Foundation raised $115 million. Christian has received numerous awards for his achievements in advertising and public relations. In 2004, he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Arts & Science.

Larry Wilmore

Comedian, Writer and Producer

Larry WilmoreAs “The Senior Black Correspondent” on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Larry Wilmore adds his own unique comic perspective to the reality-based look at news, trends, pop culture, current events, politics, sports, and entertainment with an alternative point of view.

Wilmore began his career as an actor and stand-up comic before transitioning to television writing and producing in the early 90s. He's written for such shows as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and The Jamie Foxx Show. He co-created the animated show The PJs with Eddie Murphy and a few years later created The Bernie Mac Show starring Bernie Mac. Most recently he was a consulting producer on The Office.

The Daily Show has marked a return to performing for Larry and he is currently developing a sitcom for himself at HBO. His first book, entitled I'd Rather We Got Casinos and Other Black Thoughts by Larry Wilmore, was published in fall 2008. Wilmore has been nominated and received numerous awards including an Emmy, a Peabody, Humanitas, TV Critics, and NAACP Image Award.

As a cultural commentator and a successful Hollywood talent, Wilmore opens the door to an honest conversation about race and diversity in our country. He delivers a versatile and entertaining message, lacing it with his own comedic wit and a dash of levity in an interactive, multi-media discussion.
