Access MizzouThe Access Mizzou initiative began about two years ago, building on a spring 2004 campus "accessibility tour" by former University President Elson Floyd. Access Mizzou is designed to support top campus leaders in their efforts on behalf of equal opportunity for faculty, staff, and students with disabilities. Difficult DialoguesThe MU Difficult Dialogues program is designed to stimulate rigorous intellectual inquiry, and to empower students to express opposing views respectfully and in the spirit of open-mindedness. Cultural Competency and LeadershipAre we as leaders of a prominent public, land-grant and comprehensive research university able to take up the challenge posed by Dr. Duderstadt to be an active participant in paving the way for a more engaged and inclusive multicultural institution? Workshops in this series will explore: Understanding culture as dimensions of values; Reconciling values that are in tension with each other using dilemma theory; Understanding that “wealth” is created through reconciling value differences; and Building cultural intelligence. This series of research-based presentations is designed to inform scholars, students, and practitioners of diversity-related research at Mizzou. You in MizzouYOU IN MIZZOU is designed to give you the opportunity to learn about a variety of issues that pertain to Mizzou faculty, staff and students. MU UnityIn 2004, a conversation began among faculty of color to address issues and challenges occurring in MU classrooms and departments. Faculty indicated that a network be formed to provide support and strategies for navigating the academic landscape here at the University. Report of the Task Force for Campus Climate and TrainingThe Campus Climate Task Force was appointed by Deputy Chancellor Michael Middleton to make recommendations for improving the campus climate for diversity, including training and orientation programs for faculty, staff and students; communications; academic and social programming; curriculum; and future efforts to assess the climate for diversity at all levels. MU Campus Climate StudyThe MU Campus Climate Study was a rigorous and comprehensive self-evaluation that provided new information about how majority and minority group members perceived the current climate for diversity at MU for six groups: women, people of color, people with disabilities, LGBT individuals, non-Christian religious minorities, and non-native English speakers.
