Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women

Faculty Women's Gathering for Website

(PDF Version)

In 2005-06 the Chancellor's Status of Women Committee sponsored two annual Faculty Women's Gatherings. They were held in the spring of 2005 and 2006. All women faculty, including tenured, tenure-track, non-regular, part time and adjunct, were invited to participate.

The Goals of these gatherings were established at the time of planning for the first one and include:

  1. To get to know women faculty members across campus;
  2. To help untenured women faculty members to reach their professional goals in establishing themselves; and
  3. To identify problems that women faculty members face and ways to resolve them.

The first gathering was a time for sharing concerns and thoughts with each other. The second had a more formal agenda with Provost Brian Foster and Dr. Roger Worthington as invited speakers. Provost Foster was invited to address two topics:

  • How do you plan to put this campus on the forefront in terms of recruitment and retention and promotion of women in tenure/tenure-track positions and in power-based leadership positions?
  • Where do you see the university going in its use of off-tenure track faculty-in terms of benefits, protection of academic freedom and salaries?

Dr. Worthington provided an update on the Campus Climate Survey results.
