Donald Gilliam:

Donald D. Gilliam, is a proud two-time tiger receiving his Bachelor of General Studies with an emphasis in Marketing and Communication and Master of Education in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis from the University of Missouri.

He currently works in the Department of Social Justice service as the Interim Coordinator of the Multicultural Center where he aims to contribute to the overall academic experience be developing thought-provoking and transformative learning experiences with focus on marginalized and intersectional identities.

He also serve as the Student Support Specialist at the Gaines/Oldham Black Culture Center (GOBCC) and Program Instructor for the award-winning Mizzou Black Men’s Initiative (MBMI) program. As the MBMI Program Instructor, Donald has experience in teaching freshman and sophomore seminar courses including Foundations of Education, ONYX Redefined: Explorations of You, and Black Collar: Exploring Professional Environments. These courses allow him to work intentionally with young Black male scholars to encourage them to critically examine topics such as academic and career planning, social identity, masculinity and social justice.

Donald has been able to combine his educational, professional, and personal experiences to facilitate various critical conversations, conference presentations, and trainings at the local and national level. His areas of focus include Cultural Competency, Black Masculinity, Creating Inclusive Environments, and Social Identity Exploration through Diversity & Inclusion.

How long have you been at the university?
I have been at Mizzou 10 years as an undergraduate, graduate, and professional staff member. I have been in my current position since August 16, 2017. I started working for Mizzou full-time July 1, 2013:
