Introducing Dr. B. Sherrance Russell

The Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity is pleased to announce that Dr. B. Sherrance Russell has joined the Mizzou IDE family!

Dr. Russell will be serving in the role of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Diversity Initiatives which includes providing oversight for our Department of Social Justice. 

Dr. Russell comes to us most recently from Austin, Texas where he was the CEO and Enrollment Management Consultant for Russell & Associates.  He has extensive experience working with diverse students having previously served as the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management at Central State University. 

Dr. Russell is a seasoned higher education professional and has more than a quarter of century experience in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Previously he served as the Dean of Enrollment Management at Huston-Tillotson University and Vice President of Enrollment Management where he launched the new Adult Degree Programs for working adults.

While at Langston University, Dr. Russell held notable positions. These roles included, Associate Director of Enrollment Management, Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the Director of Student Life, and Disability Officer. Additionally, over the course of his career, Dr. Russell has managed more than 10,000 beds in student housing at various colleges and universities.  

He is a graduate of Texas Southern University and holds an M. Ed. in Urban Education from Langston University and a Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University.
