In the United States and around the world, Black communities have originated distinct forms of cultural expression, both differentiating and connecting their histories. Defining and redefining artistry on a national and global scale, the contributions of Black artists have influenced everything from music to architecture. The University of Missouri 2024 Black History Month theme, The African Diaspora and the Arts, seeks to highlight the influence Black artists have had on society through the arts.
