Faculty and staff at Mizzou clapping during an event

The Black Faculty and Staff Organization’s (BFSO) primary focus is on supporting Black faculty and staff needs at the University of Missouri. With an emphasis on mentoring, community building, sharing campus employment opportunities, career development , racial equity monitoring, leadership training and related topics, BFSO is committed to providing support to Black faculty and staff. The organization shares information about campus and community events of interest to foster collegiality and community.

Objectives

  • Network with other similarly situated faculty and staff
  • Provide information to individuals navigating challenging situations, which includes but is not limited to referrals to experts
  • Share wisdom of seasoned and tenured members with new or junior members, so they can benefit from those collective experiences.

General Body Meetings

First Tuesday of every month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (in-person and via Zoom)

Meeting agendas are driven by the needs and desires of the BFSO membership. In the past, we have focused on topics such as faculty and staff retention and university policies that affect the group and stakeholders, e.g., affirmative action.

Executive Committee Meetings

Third Tuesday of every month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. (in-person)
