MIZ-OUT is an employee resource group for LGBTQ professionals, staff, faculty and committed allies. We exist specifically to build community and connection among LGBTQ and allied professionals on Mizzou’s campus. MIZ-OUT’s network highlights the University of Missouri’s commitment to supporting diverse staff through programming and community building. 

Our Objectives

  1. Create a network of professional support for LGBTQ employees.
    • Connect campus professionals with a supportive and affirming affinity group.
    • Provide safe space for employees to learn from and support each other.
  2. Support University retention efforts.
    • Provide social engagement and professional development opportunities.
    • Develop professional peer-mentorship program. 
    • Develop professional student-professional mentorship program.
  3. Activate the talent of LGBTQ employees.
    • Facilitate a culture of support and community via monthly events and activities that are both social and professionally –focused.
    • Promote on-campus education surrounding queer and trans identities, professional development opportunities and community engagement activities.
