Natalie Downer serves as the Associate Director of the University of Missouri McNair Scholars Program. Within this role, she is responsible for providing day-to-day oversight and direction in the establishment, delivery and evaluation of efforts aimed at enhancing students’ college experience while also exposing them to and preparing them for the graduate education process. As part of her responsibilities, she also serves as the MU site coordinator for the National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded Missouri Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation in Science (MO-LSAMP).
Additionally, Dr. Downer is an adjunct faculty member in the MU Department of Biological Sciences and serves as an advisory board member for the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS)-funded MU Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP). She has served as an Assistant Teaching Professor at Moberly Area Community College and Truman State University.
Dr. Downer holds a PhD in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in neuroscience from MU, and she was a Preparing Future Faculty Postdoctoral Fellow.
