At the Emerging Leaders Conference, high school students experience college life and meet Missouri legislators.

The Emerging Leaders Conference was held on the University of Missouri’s campus from July 24 to July 27. The Office of Academic Access & Leadership Development within the Division of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity hosts a group of high school students to stay at the university and have their first experience with college life. This conference is divided into two parts — civic engagement and college access — and gives students an opportunity to build on their leadership skills.

Conference attendees explore and discuss state and local community issues, share and learn from varying perspectives, observe and practice the legislative decision-making process, and then receive guidance and support around the college-planning process.

The Emerging Leaders Conference is a partnership between the Office of Academic Access & Leadership Development and the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus.
